Recommended: 'Selling Your Blog: What Are Blog Buyers Looking For?'

Highly recommended: WordPress guru Lorelle VanFossen's February 13, 2007, post at The Blog Herald headlined "Selling Your Blog: What Are Blog Buyers Looking For?" This is the most important post I've ever seen of this subject.

Recommended: David Krug's 'How I Make Money Online'

Recommended: David Krug's December 16, 2006, post headlined  How I Make Money Online. It's posted over at Work Boxers, which Dave just acquired from James Martin. He is also the proprietor of 901 am and HelloCowboy.com. He also founded Jack of All Blogs

As I've said before, if you need help selling or buying a good blog Dave's the man to call. And thanks to Duncan Riley down under --- that's Australia --- for the tip about Work Boxers. See his "Cowboy buys Workboxers."

A Correction Regarding The Blog Herald

UPDATE: In a December 7, 2006, post headlined "J. Angelo Racoma Will Help Abe Olandres Manage The Blog Herald," I wrote, among other things:

The Herald is under new ownership.  According to Olandres, considered "The Philippines' most successful blogger," "Bloggy Network Ltd., a UK-based company (not to be confused with Bloggy Network, LLC)," bought The Herald, which was founded by Australian Duncan Riley.  In February 2006, Riley sold it to b5Media, now Problogging, Inc.

I was wrong. According to former Blog Herald publisher Matt Craven, "Duncan sold it to BlogMedia, later Problogging, Inc. - not b5media." Matt, thanks for the correction.

Recommended: Bloggertalks.com's Interview With Matt Craven

Thord Daniel Hedengren over at Bloggertalks.com has a fascinating and informative interview with "Matt Craven on buying and selling The Blog Herald, and the future of ex-BlogMedia." There are lessons there. I highly recommend it.

After you read the interview, go over to Thord's TDH blog and read "The trouble of finding a good dotcom name." I can relate to it.

The Blog Herald Has Been Sold: Why?

The new owners of The Blog Herald, one of my favorite media blogs, explain why they bought it and what their plans are for it. See "A Word From the New Blog Herald Owners."

According to Abe Olandres, considered "The Philippines' most successful blogger," "Bloggy Network Ltd., a UK-based company (not to be confused with Bloggy Network, LLC)," has bought The Herald, which was founded by Australian Duncan Riley, who in February 2006 sold it to Problogging, Inc., formerly b5Media.

"Today, December 5th, 2006, is the day that we legally become owners of BlogHerald.com, and our contract with Problogging Inc. takes effect," Olandres told Herald readers.

He said Bloggy Network, Ltd "will be running the Blog Herald separately from the rest of our network." The company will also renew the contracts of the current writers.

To read why Problogging, Inc. sold The Herald, see Matt Craven's "We’ve sold The Blog Herald."

Newsweek Calls Jason Calacanis 'AOL's Blog King'

The March 20, 2006 issue of Newsweek has a feature on Jason Calacanis headlined "AOL's Blog King." I found it inspirational.

The publication noted that, "Last October, the question of whether blogging could be a business was pretty much decided when AOL paid a reported $25 million for Weblogs, Inc., a network of almost 100 blogs on topics like technology, travel and parenthood."

Calacanis, who runs Weblogs, Inc for AOL, co-founded the firm with Brian Alvey.Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban put up seed money.

Will BlogMedia, Inc Let The Blog Herald Keep Its Biting Tone?

Now that Duncan Riley of Australia has sold The Blog Herald to BlogMedia, Inc., I wonder if it will keep its biting tone or become a whisper. I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

Here's the BlogMedia, Inc. announcement of the acquisition.

Murdoch to Launch UK Version of MySpace.com

Billionaire Rupert Murdoch, head of News Corporation, is wasting no time in expanding the reach of MySpace.com, which he bought from Intermix Media in July 2005, for $580 million.

Rowan Bridge, the BBC Radio Five Live reporter in Las Vegas to cover the National Association of Television Program Executives, reported January 24, 2006 that, "A UK version of the social networking site MySpace.com is to be launched "within the next 30 days".

"The announcement was made by Fox Interactive Media president Ross Levinson," he wrote. The BBC said, "Some 32 million of these are actively using the [MySpace.com] site."
