Capitol Hill Blue Suspends Reader Blogs

Capitol Hill Blue proprietor Doug Thompson told readers January 7, 2009, he was suspending reader blogs at the site. See “Blogging suspended.” Here’s why:

I'm sorry but growing problems with the concept of reader blogs has forced me to suspend the blogs for the time being until I can find a better way to handle them.

Overnight, I had to remove nine blog postings that were overtly anti-Semitic.  I've also had to remove more than a dozen blogs in recent days that included links to sites that featured obscenity, sexually-oriented sites and sites that contain libelous information.

Thompson said, “Since Barack Obama's election as our next President, I've had to remove more than 20 postings from readers who registered just to post racist material.
