Are Malaysian Bloggers Under Threat of State Control?

Dr Mustafa K Anuar and Anil Netto, coordinators of the Malaysian human rights group Charter 2000-Aliran, say their organization "is deeply concerned by the [Malaysian] government’s potential move to impose mandatory registration of bloggers who use websites hosted in Malaysia."

"This is an obvious attempt to control and curb local blogs and to create a culture of fear among bloggers," they wrote in Aliran on April 5, 2007.

To why their is concern, please see "Bloggers under threat of state control."
