Why Are Tech Bloggers Ecstatic About Apple's iPhone?

"Mainstream news outlets, online journals and bloggers have exploded with praise for the new iPhone, which is out in the US in June and due for European release at the end of the year," Times Online reported January 10, 2007.

To read more, please see "World goes wild for iPhone. To read Cisco's reaction to the hoopla, see Cisco Senior Vice-President and General Counsel Mark Chandler's post at News@Cisco Notes headlined "Update on Cisco's iPhone Trademark."

Chandler noted that Cisco has owned the trademark since 2000. By the way, the lawyers should have a good time litigating this dispute.

Cisco probably should relinquish its claims for a hefty fee or licence the name because there is no way a Cisco phone will outsell an Apple phone. On the other hand, the phone will sell no matter what name Steve Jobs gives it.  Hopefully, the two sides can reach an accommodation.
