Dave Taylor: 'When Is A Blog Too Personal?'

"When is a blog too personal?" That question is the headline on a December 9, 2006, post by author and internet expert Dave Taylor, who "maintains three weblogs, The Intuitive Life Business Blog, focused on business and industry analysis, the eponymous Ask Dave Taylor devoted to tech and business Q&A and The Attachment Parenting Blog, discussing topics of interest to parents." He writes in The Intuitive Life Business Blog:

One of the great ongoing debates in the murky world of blogging is whether your weblog should be personal or professional, whether you should be revealing or private. There are, of course, many different answers and at some level the real answer is "whatever you're comfortable with", but I think it's a topic worth exploration nonetheless.
And he does with several examples. Bottom line: Dave thinks professional and personal blogs should not be mixed and that intimate details, such being married and dating others with the consent of one's spouse,  should not become public fodder, especially if you are running a professional blog.

As for me, I try not to get too personal in my posts although it's done at the risk of being boring. I also try to keep my posts focused on a specific subject. That's why I have several blogs. As a curious spectator, I'm interested in a lot of things, among them international affairs, journalism, politics and technology. I have a blog on each of those subjects.
