The Draft of FEC's 'Final Rules' on Internet Communications

On March 24, 2006, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) released a 96-page draft of the "Final Rules" on Internet political communications that it plans to submit to Congress. FEC said it is "amending its rules to include paid advertisements on the Internet in the definition of public communication."

"The revised definition of public communication includes paid Internet advertising placed on another persons website, but does not encompass any other form of Internet communication," FEC contends

Every blogger should carefully read the proposals and closely follow the debate that is bound to ensue as a result of the changes.
