Geek News Starts Debate Over Movable Type Development

On March 13, 21006, Geek News Central asked out of frustration: "Where the heck is Six Apart on Movable Type Development? The question prompted a response from Six Apart Product Developer Jay Allen. Others responded to the question with comments, making for a lively conversation.

I'm a Movable Type user who've had good experiences with the folk at Six Apart. In fact, I have three Movable Type blogs: The Diplomatic Times Review; The Weblog Gazette (New) and The Opinion Gazette, which is run by a friend.

I put a lot of hours into trying to understand how it works. Once that was accomplished, creating the layouts I wanted was fairly easy. I like wide, three column templates, something Six Apart doesn't offer. I think it should. I also think the software shouldn't be overloaded with code. The simpler the better.
